Nice little write-up, Rufus, it brought back lots of memories of
excellent times on a bike in la belle France.

I've not seen any Tamburini reviews in UK mags - which isn't really
surprising as I don't buy any mags. But Motorrad dyno'd one at higher
than claimed, & commented on how it pulled easily away from the Jap
litre bikes in a group test.

Also most people who have their MVs dyno'd find the claimed figures are
on the low side if anything - 4bhp in my case. But as everyone knows,
the figures are meaningless except when comparing bikes back-to-back on
the same dyno with the same operator.

The F4S is used for all models - 750 & 1000. There are various special
editions with different specifications - for example the Senna (750)
like mine makes 140 crank bhp (actually 144 for both mine & a mates
tested on the same dyno) compared to 125 for the standard 750, the 750
SPR & SR a little more than that. In the 1000s there's the Tamburini
edition at 173 (claimed), the Mamba, & the Corse which looks like being
the basis for WSB. It's all very confusing!

Was the Bike mag figure the standard F4S or one of the limited
editions? If it was the standard version, that's a few bhp up on MV's
claimed figures (166 crank) which matches most people's experience.

Ah, well there's the answer then - your bike was running like shit coz
    he'd stolen your exhaust.

I was particularly taken by the exceptional lane discipline, and the
way they swerve into the dirt to create room for bikes to pass.
    Ah, yes, that.

Had two of those where drivers were flashing, and apparently we passed
four cameras on the way to Sedan, three rear-facers and one front-facer.
News to me. I only spotted one on the way back.

Whereas we have nice helpful signs with cameras on, they seem to have
signs that say "somewhere in the near future you will pass a unit which
is designed for the enforcement of speeds as deemed appropriate by the
authorities in this area so maintain a reduced speed s'il vous plait."

So about mile up the road after the camera, I finally finish working
out in my head what the **** that sign back there just said.

The drop in driving standards was evident the moment we got off the
    ferry in Dover.

**** autumn, anyone up for the French MotoGP? ;)

Although to balance this, they really haven't got roundabouts and lanes
figured out at all. I'm always really careful when using French
roundabouts (even when I have got priority), because the
    lurch-across-three-lanes seems to be SOP.

Nonetheless, it's a cracking place to ride. And eat. And drink.

Having got off the ferry on Sunday afternoon, I had a Nova pull out in
front of me before getting to the first roundabout after the docks,
and got stuck behind a BMW 3 series that decided to pull out to
overtake a truck through the A20 tunnel, then braked three times
during the tunnel, and exited further behind the truck than he
    started.[1]

He finally got past said artic just after the Channel tunnel terminal,
whereupon I wound the Wing up to sixty, and moved into the nearside
    lane.

What happens next? Matey comes past at 60.000001mph.

He must have sped up a bit after that, cos I passed him while he was
stopped on the hard shoulder just before Maidstone.

    [1] Even 3 KSBs didn't shift him.
