For the past week, or so, I haven't been able to get any of their
    pages to load in Firefox.

    Anyone else having problems?

No - I have it set as the default search in the Firefox toolbar. All works
fine, including being able to search by right clicking highlighted text in
    the main window.

Are you using the latest version (mine autoupdated to 3.5.6 today)?

There isn't. The bar progresses, so far, then stays there... saying
it's loading, but not. No timeout, nothing. Only doing it on
    wikipedia.

If I open an IE tab, within Firefox, it works...

I've had something similar happen before. Found that userfriendly.org
totally stopped working for a couple of weeks, and yet I could telnet to
cyberspace.org and it worked fine, all my friends reported it worked fine
    too...

Some isps use a cache transparently between you and the web and for some
reason that site's cache data had become corrupted.

Oh, and on random pages, it loads the page, bit still sits there
claiming to be loading the page that it just loaded...

    Bizarre...

    Ubuntu 8.04?

I know it's LTS, but it's very well worth updating that.

Ubuntu 8.04 doesn't use Firefox 3.5. If you want the latest gadgets you
need to upgrade the O/S as well. I'd definitely recommend the Ubuntu
upgrade... many improvements to be found, including FF 3.5.
