It's from Suze's CBR and the clutch has been refusing to disengage
properly. Springs, release plate, bushings, bearings, etc. are all
    otherwise fine.

All the plates are fine, also, but the grooves in the basket and housing
(which I've tried to illustrate in the pics) are really quite pronounced.
Not sure I want to spend several hours at them with a small file (which I
don't currently have...) but will do so if the concenscus is that it can
    be rescued.

Help me whilst the light's still good! =8-o

See if you can get the angle grinder in there...
You could also try some emery cloth, if you don't have a small file.
Or move the clutch assy aside and drink the alcohol you have standing
    there ;-)

FFS Robbo, will you PLEASE sort out your fucking attributions. It's
impossible to tell wtf you're replying to. Even I've sussed how to do it
and thick as you might be, it's easily within your capabilities.

Maybe he should seriously rethink the manner in which he posts to ukrm.
Others have been seriously plonked for far smaller misdemeanours. The
attributions are all to shit and the .sig is so big that it takes up
half a fucking screen. On top of that the content is rarely worth the
click on a mouse button. Have a fucking word Robbo.

Easy. Go into the nearest new bike shop and ask Suze to say, "I'll have one
    of those please."

    Goawn, YKIMS.

Thanks for all the good advice. Wik's dutifully putting the bike back
together so it's rideable for tomorrow.

We'll probably buy tools required this week and hopefully get it sorted
    next weekend.

    Thanks again guys.

His 'references' header shows perfectly who he is replying to - so as long
as you are using a decent news client, it's not a problem.

Admittedly, he is a fuckwit anyway.

Heh, I blame the photographer, meself.
    ;-)
Arr. Still, I got it all back together and didn't have any bits left over
and it ain't no worserer than wot it was when I started.

    No better either, mind.

Still, it's an excuse to buy some nice jewellers files and maybe even a
    Dremel (or similar).

On that latter point, would a mini-drill thing with a suitable bit -- I'm
thinking ickle, very fine grit, grinding wheel, like, er, this:
    http://www.dremeleurope.com/cgi-bin/eu2002.storefront/181185271/Product/View/8153

or similar be a good choice?

Won't be able to do 'owt for over a week, though as I'm away much of next
    weekend.
    :-(

Ta to everyone for their assistance thus far.

But you've got to switch the header view on and then double click to
open the previous message. Sure it only takes a few seconds but because
of your next point it's not really worth the bother.
It's so fucking easy to setup I don't understand why he refuses to do
    it.

I suppose that he's too 'independent' to be told what to do. I did try
asking reasonably a couple of times. IIRC Pip said I was wasting my
    typing.

Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Wik
I'd go with hand files myself[1]. Dremels are very good, but you can
remove a lot of material very quickly. More than you wanted to IME,
which would be as bad or worse than the situation you're in now.

You're still welcome to the use of my garage, BTW.

[1] Actually, I probably wouldn't. I'd probably set it up in the mill
and clean it up that way. But that's just me.
