Is there such a thing?

I've got a few tools that run off the cigarette lighter port in a car.
What I'd like to be able to do is use them in the garage.

Is there an adapter that will plug into a normal socket and accept the
plug for the lighter? I've tried google without success.

I was just trying to tell you that you don't need an "adaptor", you
    need a "transformer".

What you want is a 12v inverter, they come is various current ratings check
out Maplin (www.maplin.co.uk) , they have several in their range.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you want, you may get such a thing at a shop
that sells those 12v car fridges as they sometimes come with a converter to
    use them on mains voltages.
Hope I got it the right way round this time !

    You mean like this?

    (mains powered)
    http://www.halfords.com/opd_product_details.asp?id=17055&type=0&cat=113

    (battery)
    http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=010310400&r=2058&g=107

However it depends on the power requirements of the tools. Maplin also do
some but to run my Clarke Electric impact wrench
(see: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=060810013 - will have to
do until I buy an air compressor) the units, especially mains powered ones
were quite expensive (>50quid). I'm thinking of building my own.

Buy a new battery for your Blade. Use the old one to run your power
tools but connect it to a charger while in use.

This way you'll always have a spare battery....Just in case.

I'd like a kit for fitting a cigarette power socket to the bike.
(Some BMWs have them as OE) Does anyone make an aftermarket kit?

Old CB power supply, should be some cheap ones about at car boots,
etc. You'll also need an inline cigarette socket (try CPC or Maplin).

Yes there is. I've got a power supply at home that has a cigar plug
adapter in the front. It's also got two screw posts in the front and
just for added goodness has two flick terminals (like the type you put
    speaker wires into).

I got mine from here www.mlands.co.uk . Do a search for power supply.

Mine's a 28 amp power supply mind, so if all you want to do is run a
car-vac you might want to look at something else ;-)

Works well enough for the sort of cheap crap that one plugs into a fag
    lighter socket.

If you can find a "CB" shop there's a good chance they'll have a
regulated 12v power supply with a cigarette lighter connection like this
    one:

    http://www.nevadaradio.co.uk/acatalog/psu-palstar-ps04.html

At this point I'd just like to say I have *never* used a CB radio and
have not used a ham radio in close to 20 years.
