    Bread and circuses?

Yes I know. That surprised me. I can only assume it was a misprint.

A big improvement on Treeze's last effort.

    I miss Trees.

In all serious though the opposition let themselves down. For some
reason which has nothing to do with the way I indoctrinated the kids
they absolutely refuse to even consider voting for any candidate who
does not have the common decency to, inform the voters they are
    standing.

This is not new. When we first moved to Benfleet 40 years ago my father
stood as a Labour candidate in rock solid Tory St Mary's ward for the
local council elections. Daddy, bless him, insisted on a full canvas.
"Yeah go on George, knock yourself out," was the reaction of the local
    party movers.

Needless to say he got elected and served the community as a local and
county councillor for the next 25 years. A small lesson that perhaps
some of yer modern politicos might care to take note of.

Well, for the recent election, all I received, from anyone, was the
official "who are the candidates, and what do they stand for" booklet.

Which I opened after the deadline for postal voting.

    A friend of my brother's ghost-wrote his book. He's a very nasty
piece of work. Also, according to another friend when he was
Education Secretary there were discussions about who would be in his
Home Office team. Apparently this is what he said in a memo about the
lesbian Angela Eagle that was left in a photocopier: 'despite Ms
Eagle's lifestyle and preferences I accept she has some qualities.'

Not sure if I've said this before but he went to school with my step
dad and was a nasty bullying shit then as well.

Of course, even if our general dislike for the man is justified we need to
rerserve a bit of disgust for the man who put him there.

I've said it, not that he went to school with your step dad, but I have
passed on the experiences of my mum who has met him in political
    circles.

However, the bullying **** part of his personality aside, the man has
lost what little touch he has previously had with reality and as long as
he remains in a position of power does represent a real and present
    danger to our society.

  12. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
I wonder if he has a huge chip on his shoulder about being blind, or
maybe he'd just have been like that anyway.
He strikes me as a petty-minded, vindictive sort; quite unlike most
    other blind folk I've known.
