.... or is Blunkett trying to micromanage the country?

For example:
Asking the humberside police cheif to resign.

Am I the only person who thinks Blunkett is overreaching
and should be looking at wider issues rather than individual
cases?

 

I remember being pissed off with Howard when he was doing it,
but can't remember why at the minute.

Hardly. Blunkett's one of the few people who manage to make Howard look
relatively sane.

I can say with certainty that as long as Blunkett's in the government I
will never vote Labour again.

 

Which was interesting considering the evidence was rather circumstantional,
to be generous.

The Times earlier in the week was commenting on him being a different kind
of hooligan

 

He seems to want the CC to resign as he is supposed to be resposible for
his force, however as Home Secretary Blunkett is reponsible for the
Police as a whole and so surely he should also resign? It seems the buck
doesn't travel that far with this government. I read in one of the
newspapers that the present CC in Humberside wasn't even in post at the
time.

Quite the opposite, this is a classic formula for revolution. Raise
expectations of the non-ruling classes, fail to fulfill those
expectations and you'll see the result as revolution.

Indeed. Abstention may be the answer (although I will attend and spoil
my vote). I just *can't* vote for any government that will permit that
man to remain in a position of power.

 

I detest Blunkett, more than any other British politician. If I were ever
to relax my stance on celebrating a death, it would be for his.

When you live in a safe opposition seat, you don't even really do that.

Nonetheless, my vote lends a tiny amount of legitimacy to the
government. And they're not getting it while that ****'s in office.
