I don't think docking tails is particularly cruel; well not if done by a
    vet.

I've seen it done to springers and terriers and the pups didn't make
    *that* much noise.

Be fair, it's an utterly different procedure, with far less hideous
    consequences for men.

A circumsised man is still perfect capable of enjoying sex for example.

  8. Our Alsation/Rottie cross has a few patches of white hairs on his
muzzle from playing with the cat. And under the white hairs is scar
    tissue[1].

It's amusing watching a 50kg dog flinch and grovel when a 5kg cats
    glares at him.

    Phil.

[1] Thats what you get when the cat gets tired of just hitting the dog
and digs his claws in instead.

  9. Indeed. In the larger breeds (boxers & Rotties) it was done so that an
intruder couldn't grab the dog by the tail to stop it biting him.
Although why it never included Alsations in the mix I don't understand.

  10. When I was a kid we had boxers and bred one of them (9 pups). The tails
of the pups were docked (same reason - difficult to sell unless docked
although I would far rather have dogs with undocked tails) but they
were docked by the old 'elastic band round the tail' method. Not bolt
    croppers involved at all!

Eh? I thought it was exactly the opposite, although never having had
sex whilst also having a foreskin, I wouldn't know.

On average an uncut man's glans is more sensitive, according to wot
I've read. Whether it makes for better sex I don't know.

Oh true enough I suppose (not that I have first hand knowledge). However,
it's still a fact that it is a cosmetic procedure largely for Jewish
males[1], and does actually have some advantages[2], whereas female
circumsicion is purely an act of mutilation because women "shouldn't be
allowed to enjoy sex". Just because the procedures happen to share the same
name, they are really not comparable.

To put it in another context, compare snipping the bottom of a boys earlobe
off because "God told you to". Then, for the women, cut off her entire ear,
possibly puncturing her eardrum in the process. The first one is pointless,
but ultimately harmless, the second is mutilation that will stay with you
    for life.

[1] I am a little confused though. If God wanted them circumcised, why
bother giving them the extra material in the first place?!
[2] Much lower risk of infection on the ol' feller, more hygenic.

Surely it was done for fighting dogs to stop their opponents biting
    the tail?
They weren't bred as fighting dogs?

An adult male having it done by choice - fine. Done to an infant, well
why not cut off a thumb for some bizarre religous ritual as well. IMHO
it is a child abuse issue left untackled because of the Jewish
    consequences.

I agree that it's not justifiable, but infection can occur if hygeine
is not observed. The 5-y-o son of a friend of ours developed such an
infection last year, due to the father being circumcised and therefore
not knowing about pulling the skin back to clean it.

So, this was in fact an infection indirectly caused by circumcision.

That's pretty much my take on the matter too, but I still maintain that the
female version is just mutilation for misogynistic purposes.
