Is Bayliss outclassed in MotoGP?

I really expected him to out qualify Capirex at PI, but that's not the case.
In my mind this puts him a step back in the que for the championship next
    year.

Prior to this race I thought that Bayliss on an 04 Ducati would be a good
bet for at least the runner-up spot.

As it's his first year in MotoGP, you're better comapring him with
someone in the same position, like Colin Edwards or Nicky Hayden.

Bayliss is brimming with natural talent and agression. He may not be
title material ATM but don't forget he plays second fiddle to Loris in
terms of getting hold of the latest development parts.

MotoGP is so close in terms of rider ability and kit that if you took
Rossi out of the equation there are at least seven riders who could
mount a challenge for the title. To put this into perspective the
Proton has scored only one point this season yet they're only a second
maximum off the pace. There's usually only 0.5 seconds separating the
top ten. MotoGP: "The perfect way to make a superb rider look
    seriously average".

Colin is on a seriously under developed bike and Nicky whilst he did
little at the start of the season is now starting to show his class.
I honestly believe Colin could mount a serious challenge next year if
he gets the other V5 in the Gressini team alongside Sete.

Admittedly he's on his "home" track and has been there
a few times in both 250GP and SBK, but he's sitting in
fourth, only 0.615s behind Rossi on pole. It's the first
time he's ridden this bike on this track and they have
    no previous setup data.

Admittedly I'm biased because he's a great bloke, IMHO,
    but isn't that good enough?!?!

Admittedly Nicky Hayden is doing a bit better now, but I reckon Colin
Edwards should have had his factory Honda, after all he did win the WSB
    for the ungrateful cunts.

It's a good spot on the grid but I expected him to out-qualify Capirex here
    of all places.

No - Capirex is in the next league above Baylisstic and
the track won't make any difference. Still, should be
    a good race!
