Is Auntie Carole being a bit too slick.?

  1. This time last year the Mongvan came into my life.

I contacted Auntie Carole wanting a 6 wheeler policy. "Best to wait,"
they said, "Your bike bit of the policy is due for renewal in November
we'll sort it all out then. Have two separates for the time being."

November arrives and I am advised to leave it until the 4 wheeler policy
expires around now and collect a year of NCB[1] on the mongvan before
    making the change.

Now arrives and they are offering me a "discounted" 9 months policy on
the mongvan to bring it into line with the bikes so I can transfer
everything to a new 6 wheeler policy *next* November.

I have done a few sums and I could be anything up to 18 months no claims
discount missing/deferred as a result of their "advice." They were not
    at all apologetic about it.

This is enough that I am shopping around for insurance right now for the
van and will be again next November for the bikes. It does not mean
that I shall be renewing elsewhere but it does mean that the loyalty
this customer has shown in the past been tested beyond breaking point.

[1] Unlike many of you lot of fucking wusses, I don't have a recent no
claims history for a cage, this has bugger all to do with not having
    accidents.

Anyone who shows loyalty in insurance is a mug. The broker my parents
used for over twenty years for personal and business vehicles showed no
hesitation in quoting over a grand for a policy that someone else
quoted about ?300 for. When questioned it turned out they could "knock
a bit off", despite that being the best price so far.

I've no idea why people go with this Auntie Carole crap. I've only
stayed with motorcycle direct because they're consistently cheapest.

In my case it is because they offer a whole enough package that it has
not previously been worth my effort shopping around.

In mine, a complete packeage that nobody else can match for price.

Motorcycle direct were shit for multi-bike policy choices too when I
    spoke to them.

For my £219 premium their standard policy includes items I want (cover for
Croatia and other non-EU countries, Euro breakdown & legal cover) which
many companies add on or simply don't offer[0].

I shop around every year but when you price up the whole package[1] the
CNash policy represents value for money, in my case at least.

[0] Ebike offered me a policy for £190 but they only insure you in the EU
and the breakdown policy only covers the UK
[1] e.g. to buy a similar Euro breakdown policy would cost £59, legal cover
is often charged at £20 so £140 for the actual full comp insurance policy
    seems good to me

I still hesitate at the word complete. Although my experiences last
year with their back end systems leaves me with little to complain
about. Apart from the minor little hitch involving lifting me off
Bodmin Moor before The Beast was about everything was smooth and
seamless. Fortunately it turned out that Pip was more interested in
caning the nuts off his new toy so all ended well.

Acute Wrinklyness and multi-bike policies seem to go well together I
    have noticed.

Same thing happened to me with my bikes and car.

Funny how they can add a bike at a moment's notice but can't add a car,
    even though I have a multi-vehicle policy.
    What can you do?

I've now got 1 years' NCB for the car and only 3 for the bikes.

I should have 5 years for the bikes and not worry about it for the four
    wheeled motor.
    See above.

That shit orange van I had was the first 4-wheeler for about 10 years.

The very least I can do is what I am doing now, actively looking round.
I might not find a deal that suits as well as Auntie but having done it
once I shall undoubtedly do it again.
