  6. Almost the same for me; couriering - Luton/Glasgow/Luton/Edinburgh.
I did the above on a SOBMW R80RT. Got off at the end of 1100 miles and
    felt ok.

Heh, reminds me of a ride I did on a Puch Maxi back in '73(1)... Paris
to Moskow, across to Berlin and then to Rothenberg... I only just got
to the Bathaus Hotel before midnight clossing... They clossed a lot in
those days... 'Course it'd be p*ss easy now without the wall...

    (1) I was only 10 years old at the time...

Oh... That wasn't the trip I was thinking of!

I was thinking of the one that went via some twisty mountain roads...
then, somewhat strangely via Germany, then France, then Germany again,
and some time in the early evening Wik, Suze and I showed up at the
hotel to a round of applause.

Ahhh. Right. Well, even allowing for lots of getting lost, it still
wouldn't have been anywhere near a 1000 miles

Steve was a Triumph factory test rider, & put most of the development
miles on the Hinkley Tigers. He now runs http://www.calamander.co.uk/
who supply the Chilli heated waistcoat, which he designed. A highly
    recommended bit of kit.

There's a guy on the Tiger list who does the IB Rally every year on his
Tig. Big trailies are popular with those going for a win as the optional
loop up to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska takes in some pretty shitty roads.
