    For those who are interested

The 2005 Iron Butt Rally kicked off yesterday in Denver, Colerado, USA.
This little run involves riding for 11 consecutive days covering an absolute
minimum of 1610 kms per day. The Big Boys and Girls will average closer to
    2000 kms.

You can read delayed reports of the ride at
    http://www.ironbutt.com/about/default.cfm.

Further info can be picked up on
    http://ironbutt05.blogspot.com/,

13 bikes have satellite transponders fitted, and you can follow their rides
    in real time at
    http://rally.star-traxx.com/rallyview.asp?Rally=30.

What, with watching the 4th test and following the Iron Butt, some long
    nights await.

Iron butt indeed. Put me in the saddle for *one* day covering *half*
that distance and I'd be walking like John Wayne for a week with a wild
    look in my eyes.

    Iron butters are loco, senor.

I've done 1600 kms in a day a few times and it is doable. I would _not_
like to try it for 11 days in a row though... that is simply madness :)

I've done a couple of 1600km days myself.

Best I've done is an average 900km a day for 14 days. But that was
stopping to see the sights too...Alice, Darwin, Monkey Mia, Eucla,
Birdsville Track, a service in Perth, etc...

6,000 kilometres in 6 days, 2 weeks ago was about my limit.

Very difficult to do 1,600 kilometres in a day in Australia not enough
daylight and too many Roos (Wombats, Emus, Cows, Sheep, Camels etc).

Not if you were on a Goldwing or similar. Yea any form of sports bike
