Technically, anything above 100, anything below 100.

The average (mean) is 100. That's the point of it.

What's a good IQ score, and what's bad?

Talking of which, I read a review of a book ages ago and it was basically a
drug/disease which lowered the IQ of everyone by 20 points, and there was a
massive race to find a cure before the scientists were too thick.

Any ideas what the book was called?

In Densa, the low IQ society, members are classed as being in the bottom 1%,
which is bad, or the bottom 2%, which is good, of the population. It is,
however, considered bad form to brag about your test results.

Seriously, what do you get out of this? Other than the chance to put it
in your .sig and fail to impress us, that is?

Are there loads of highly-intelligent fit nymphomaniacs?

It's simply a badge. Originally to test to see if I could. As it happens I
run a puzzle website [1] and I think it helps a little there.

100 is average. Anything from 80 to 120 is pretty well within the "normal"
range. If you want more detailed info about IQ tests and their
interpretation please email me (watch out for spamtrap). It is worth noting
that there is more than one type of IQ test. For children WISC IV, or BAS
II are commonly used (WISC III and BAS 1 are also still in use but are being
phased out) but there are other more obscure variants around.

Nope, the national average is 100 - that is how IQ tests are standardised.
However, because many people over-estimate their abilities their
self-reports are often inflated. From time to time tests are upgraded with
fresh standardisation to prevent "drift" (and to keep up the profits of the
    people who market them)
