I've looked at the aquaboxen, but they don't appear to be ipaq 5550-sized.

Has anyone any other sensible ideas, apart from the top of the tank bag?

I've looked at these cases for my xda, not found a mounting device yet
    though.

I'm doing exactly the same for a Medion MDPNA100.

There are generic cradles you can get and mounted using the ram mount
components, the real problem though is getting a waterproof housing of
the right size. I'll let you know if I manage to get anything sorted.

Ah that looks good - I didn't see a spec on that site - I am looking to
    mount a Medion MDPNA100 (74mm wide x 20mm deep by 150mm (to tip of
antenna)) - any info on the max dimensions it can accommodate?

What type of bike are you planning to mount it on? I think it is
designed to mount directly on the bars - this won't work for me anyway
as there is no room on the bars for such a bracket. I am looking at
stuff that mounts onto the tank bolt.

ATM I use a RAM mount on my K1100 LT, subject to further investigation, the
    Brodit thing would replace it.
