DId Wayne Gardner sport it one year?
Maybe I'm wrong, but who (after it it ceased to be a round) GP riders
    have been there to race?
He was teammates with Joey Dunlop...
I couldn't see the present prima donnas up for that..

If he did, iomtt.com don't know about it.
Fogarty. Read. Hailwood. Haslam. McElnea. Parrish.

    In modern GP terms, no-one.
    Who was?
Well no, not seeing as he's dead.

Rossi, Biaggi, Gibernau. etc. They are arguably the best 3.
Have they got the guts for the TT course? I don't think so.

Takes different types to ride different races. I've no doubt that Rossi
wouldn't shine in WSB, or Reynolds in Moto GP. To my mind, anyone who
races at the IOM - be it TT or GP - is nuts, pure and simple. So Rossi,
Gibernau et al don't want to race there, but it's their choice and I
    respect that.

Depends on all sorts of factors.
Personally I look at the island course as a challenging
37 and a bit mile road ride. I'd love to get the chance
to have a go at it on closed roads (as opposed to 4:30am
on a wing and a prayer, like last time).
I know that I'm never going to be at the sharp edge when
it comes to lap times and race ability, but it doesn't stop
me from wanting to at least try my best.
I view it much like climbing. I will never be a world class
rock jock, but within my own ability level the risks are
just as large when trying to push my limits as those of
    more skilled climbers.
In much the same way, I still, *so*, want to race properly on
the island course, for my own personal reasons and challenges.
I don't think being 'nuts' is a pigeon hole I'd like to be placed in,
if I was ever to achieve my ambition.

  7. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember
    (John Munro) saying something like:
Guts? Suspension of sense, more like. 180mph down a dry-stone-wall lined
hillside where the slightest misjudgement can have you dead.

There is no way that any rational person would do it and I take my hat
off to those who do. We need more crazy bastards to show us how things
can be, away from the stifling consistences of day to day living.

Anyway, the three mentioned above don't strike me as daft - they have no
need to ride the TT and why should they? They do perfectly well for
    themselves at what they do.

    Smoothest...Joey

Sexiest (well, to me anyway) Hizzy

    Gobbiest...Foggy

I'd rate Joey personally, saw him race for 13 years at the TT and 2 at
    the NW200.

What a smooth rider, cannot be beaten in my book.

I was impressed with it. The second film ('03-'04) was good but didn't
have the same depth; had the feeling of a rush job in a "we need to give
the first film some additional shelf life". Watchable all the same.

    I had that distinct impression.

It could be argued that the IOM is unrepresentative as practically any
old moron can get on a 4 y/o nail of a race bike and become a 'contender'
(hence the comparatively high death rate) whereas MotoGP is the pinnacle
of technical development and race craft. Totally different disciplines.

Certainly his argument is as compelling as who was the greatest: Barry
    Lee or Ayrton Senna?

I think you'll find the question should be 'are they fucking stupid
enough to die while being paid **** all to compete in a race that no one
    gives a flying **** about?'
