"The idea is to make use of the Scotrail sleeper"

Seriously, find me an airline that allows me to leave work, check in
to the first night's accommodation, settle down for dinner, go to
sleep and wake up in the middle of the destination. And then repeat
the same trick for the journey home, dropping me off in central London
just in time to hop on the tube to the office.

Fair enough. But you probably still need to consider hiring a car.

Get a pushbike. They have the mountain bike world champs in Fort Bill.
There'll be bike hire and possibly shuttles up to the top.

Heheheh. I've done the WHW three times in the past (before I left for
France, obv) and BN 3.5 times.

I spent a week there, working, about 15 years ago.

The sky was the bluest blue I've ever seen, anywhere.

    Smashing people too; amazingly friendly.[/QUOTE]

    Especially the nurses....

  7. I think they use the gondola/chairlifts for transporting mountain bikes.

I don't drink and I still agree 100% with that idea.

Aha. Is that the chairlift they redid a while back? I've had lectures on
    that.

They do. But I'd suggest that someone just hiring a bike for a day
really isn't wise to be riding a World Cup downhill course.

Yeah, but I'm sure he'd prefer not to have broken bits.
Nah, watching people walk down is boring.

Apart from climbing a few hundred different routes on different
mountains in the surrounding area you're probably right.

Inverness is better for the tourist type stuff but if exercise is the
main aim then FW is the place to go.
