....the conversation I had with Auntie Carole the other day, that is.

As I was sorting out the cover on the CBR, they asked me if I had a car as
    well...

"Here we go...", I thought, but then they said: "We'll be doing combined car
and bike policies very soon, you see - would you like us to give you a ring
when it's all up and running?"

To which I said yes, given I've wanted a policy along these lines for a
while, and I'm not aware of anyone else that does it as of yet; if they do,
    then I plead ignorance.

Gawd bless her... assuming the price reflects the fact I can't use both
vehicles at the same time, of course...

I tried them for the ShiteOldVolvo. They were uncompetitive on price,
and kept trying to push me to a fully-comp policy (on an 'H' plate
    Volvo, FFS!).

They did mention the combined policy to me, and were doing the "Buy now,
we'll sort out a refund when we're up and running" thing.

I get the *feeling* (and I have no evidence to back this up) that they
are currently farming out the car insurance. The guy was *way* too
pushy, and I normally find the bike people pretty laid-back. And he
seemed a little confused over what company name to give me when he
    answered the phone.

Not classed as a classic yet then?

    I had a very brief flirtation with a 200SX S13 a while back - got that
insured as a classic, and that was on a J plate... although to be fair, it's
probably a bit more sought after than a SOV.
Well, time will tell - I'll listen to what they have to say, anyway, if only
so as I can say 'feck off', in return.

Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, JackH
They did mutter about that, but classic policies are too restrictive for
me. Especially the "Can't drive other motahs" bit, and the (at least on
my ShiteOldLandie) "No no-claims bonus" bit.

Oh... well that was going to be my toy, next to the shite old diesel.

As it is, I've got the CBR to fulfil that gap, instead. :)

Nigel Eaton was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
What's the problem with the no NCB? The thing's hardly getting any
    younger, is it?

And depending on the insurance you can get "can drive other motahs"
even on a classic policy. I'm pretty sure I've got it on the
    ShiteOldRover's policy.

  7. I'm waiting for this as well - it's been delayed because they're trying
to sort it out with the underwriters.

Like you, I can't wait. I have (counts fingers) six vehicles insured
with Aunty Carole, but I can only ride (or drive) one at a time....

  8. Interesting. That's *exactly* the impression I got. A hell of a lot of
their bike insurance bods seem to be enthusiasts, too, which is nice.

If you're only insured on a classic policy for > 2 years, your NCB
lapses. Which will smart a bit when you buy a newer car.
