and if the second hand motorcycle market was any larger they'd end up with a
    negative total.

  3. Must admit I was lazy and didn't actually read the article.

I agree, we are seriously reamed with the third party.

Third Party Property is a bit of a rort for us as well. (Seriously, how much
more damage can you do with a 3T 4WD rather than a 200kg Sports bike.)

Worse than that, Nev. The 100,000 in NSW etc was registered vehicles, not
riders (was mentioned earlier in the thread). So the number of riders
    surveyed would be lower.

I don't even own a car, and even when I did I still used my bike pretty much 100% of the time anyway. If
anything, my bike probably travels quite a bit further than the average car. In any case, it has nothing (or
at least very little) to do kilometres travelled, and a helluva lot more to do with the level of ability of
    the person doing the travelling!

When I was living in Canberra, I was averaging 20,000 - 25,000km per year. Since I've moved to Bathurst (about
10 times smaller) a year ago, I've done abou 12,000km. Statistics like that are bullshit, and really do not
tell you anything useful at all.

I thought it was only 87.5% of statistics that were bull ?

They mustn've have that many. After all, they all seem to generate
    fairly healthy profits....

I can't believe that in this day and age and with the available computing
power at their disposal that the ABS didn't calculate the average ACT rider
did 20-25000km and the average NSW rider did abou [sic] 12,000km. I'm
    horrified.

You're right. On second thought, it's probably all those trips down the
    Kings.

....and little more horrifying our government sending troops to a country on
the other side of the world to kill thousands of its men, women and children
on the basis of lies which the hicks swallowed hook, line and sinker.
