Interesting helicopter landing

  1. Hmm, think it was a Dash-8 I was in on Friday, for the 10-minute
flight from YYJ to YVR. I thought it a little strange that they boarded
the rear rows first "rows 5 to 9" when I was in 10C. It all became
obvious when I boarded -- row 10 is very fractionally behind row 9 and only
has one seat -- 10C. You get a lovely view directly down the aisle...

Reminded me of when I was in Alitalia seat 1A (Bari to Rome, IIRC).
I think I was further forward than the pilots!

For reasons beyond rationality, I was surfing the web and ended up
following Dr. Reid into this forum. I had never seen a helicopter
    crash except in movies. Yikes!

I just relocated to Albuquerque in the American southwest and
purchased a bike on arrival as my own reward. If you pedal up to the
foothills you can coast all the way back to downtown without adding
    energy; it's quite fun.

In this region we have Steve Fossett lost. He was going to try a land
speed record of some sort. If he turns up dead, it will be like the
croc hunter's death: he did so many things more daring and dangerous
    than a hum-drum flight.
