Now i've got a real bike that will do more than 45mph, i need something
better than my aldi £4.99 rider to pillion intercom.

I want one that i can fit to the bike, be powered by the bikes electrical
system, pissed off changing batteries all the time.

    What i want is:

rider to pillion comunication with vox so the earphones arent hissing all
    the time,

stereo earphones that fit in the helmets, and boom mics as we have flip
lids, curly cords from the lids to the sockets to the intercom on the bike,
as we are the type to forget the buggers plugged in, even if we are
nattering away to each through the system other as we get off the bike and
    walk away.

    input for an mp3 player,

input/output for a mobile phone (phone has blootoof, so could go for a
blootoof connection, but the phone also has an mp3 player built in, so after
an intercom that can work via wires with a nokia E70, or via blootoof and
play mp3's over it would sort most things out, no need to make calls whilst
riding, and can set phone to auto answer on recieving calls.. not that
    anyone ever calls me like.

Works reasonably well at upto 80mph, not got a great deal of wind hitting us
as bike has a screen that's fairly good,

possibility of connecting a pmr radio, just incase i make some friends who
own bikes and want me to piss them off with my pratteling on as we ride.

Now i know the answer is going to be 'autocom' but are there alternatives?
if the answer is still autocom, which one? and where can i get it the
cheapest/anyone got a second hand one to sell me?

I have an autocom on my K [1] and my F650 and it's the best intercom system
I've ever used. When first installed my daughter tested it my speaking
almost at a whisper at three figure speeds, I was impressed I could hear her
    under those conditions.

If you're lucky you can get one from eBay, I got one of mine as a special
offer at the NEC a few years back and the other was fitted by the dealer
    when I collected the K.

[1] connected to the sat nav and Bluetooth module for hands free phone use,
    both work great.

  3. When I first started riding a bike, I suggested to the wife that maybe we
    should get a intercom.

Her reply was something along the lines of "**** off".

yeah but my Gf wants an intercom to moan at me, and that may be a little
easier on me than the bruises i suffer from her prodding or hitting me to
try and send me messages in morse code.

we also would like to listen to mooosic as we ride, hear directions from the
GPS and have the option of answering the phone,

i know i know, but i said i'd stick with her, and i will,

Anyhoo, intercoms, i know autocom is the best, but i just cant afford one,
all i could get is the easy rider one, which isnt duplex, can't have a good
argument through it when you have to take turns to speak now can you :)

So, the starcom intercom seems better for me, the price of the most basic
autocom, but with the features of the more expensive autocoms,

i know it'll not be as good, but i don't really need crystal clear coms at
speeds past 70, it's only occasionaly i'll go upto a ton, and really dont
    want her whining then.

Now as the autocom is better than the star com, and lots of people replace
the star com with an autocom, anyone on here done just that?? and still got
the star com to sell? i'm really after a used one to save money, every £15 i
save in bits for the bike, is another 150 or so miles i can do on it at
    todays fukin petrol prices,

I'd guess that an intercom is great for arguments if you can turn your
headphones off and let her get on with it.
