Intercoms

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Colin Forsyth, Jun 8, 2004.

  1. I'm interested in getting a Rider/Pillion intercom. I hear you say why on
earth would I want to listen to the wife while out on the bike !)

Have looked longingly at the Autocom range but they are a little out of my
price range. Also looked at the Nady range but haven't read many good
comments about them. Then there are much cheaper versions such as
Chatterbox etc that retail under 20 quid. I am tempted to take the mid
range and try a Nady but am a little deterred by the reviews I have read.

So has anyone had a good experience of Nady Intercom's or have any other
recommendations ? Other than leave the wife at home !

    :)

I use the Autocom one, and it is superb.
The prices seem to be a helluva lot lower nowadys for 'em.
Not having used the Nady, can't comment on that I'm afraid.

Just go and buy an Autocom - nothing else comes even close. They are as
good as Autocom say they are.

I tried a couple of the cheap £20 ones and they were OK upto about 30mph -
after that you just couldn't tell what the other person was saying. With
the Autocom I can still hear the wife clearly at 90mph+ (Unfortunately?).

Have a look at the new Active Rider / Active 7 Smart Autocom unit. It is
£144 (£199 including a pillion headset) and has stereo music, phone
interface etc. and is bike powered. Using the mobile phone handsfree on a
bike at 70mph+ is very strange...

    Cheers.

    Hi,

you may also want to take a look at www.starcom1.com. I recently
bought one of these and am well impressed. However, since I have not
tried an Autocom (or any others) I cannot comment on relative
    differences.

You may (or may not) also want to look at

for a rather lengthy discussion on the subject
