I'm looking at getting a bike to bike radio / intercom and would like input
on what is being used out there and what works.

There are some rider/passenger available here in unzud for a great price...
just got one thru trademe auctions for $42... think he may have some more...
will let you know what its like when I have it if you like...,

As far as bike 2 bike, I would guess you could do something with a small CB
type set... try Delsound in Brisbane... they specialise in that sort of
thing... speak to Trevor and say Peter Chatteris sent you.. Trev should be
able to unearth exactly what you are after...

In Australia there isn't the same range as in the US or Europe but you can get the
Chatterbox X2 (the one I'll probably get) HJC make a copy of it too that you can get
from anyone who deals in the HJC helmets, Bikercomm have a unit to do that too.

  4. I agree that the Autocom is a great unit, but it looks like you got stung on
the price! I got all of the above, an adaptor for my Siemens mobile
(standard cable fits Nokia) and fitted for $800 by Olbis in Brisbane
(Authorised dealer). The two authorised dealers in NSW are Seaside MC at
Ballina and Brisons at Newcastle, both who give club discount. I use a
minidisc as it is very compact and I find a discman tends to skip. I intend
to add a CB shortly, as out in the sticks mobile, even CDMA coverage is
fairly patchy. The helmet speakers can be a pain to fit if you have a helmet
that doesn't have removeable cheekpads (Shoei RF800). I also found it
beneficial to add the microphone covers, as used in open face helmets, as
strong crosswinds tends to activate the mike at speed, despite setting the
mic sensitivity to low (and protects the mic fabric from sneezes).

    Andrew,

I wouldn't mind a few details of how you did fit the speakers etc in the end
    as I just bought a Shoei TZ1.

    Cheers,
    Mat.

I have a TZ-1. IMHO, I wouldn't bother putting speakers in it 'cos
you'll be upgrading it soon anyway. They're farken noisy, and farken
leaky (have huge problems with water ingress inside the helmet), and
that's even before you hop on the farken bike.
Anyway, that's my 25000 cents worth.

Oh, she's a cuddly teddy bear and you know it. <grin>
