We all carry baseball bats and kill any potential witnesses. We then steal
the third party's wrecked vehicle and sell it on the black market to pay for
    any repairs needed.

Thats how I understand it works anyway.

They're all a bunch of cunts and will **** you about if you need to make a
claim, whether they're a no-name company or one of the big names. So my
advice would be to use whoever is cheapest for you.

What he said. No matter what happens, you'll get screwed
by any company you're with, so may as well get the
cheapest one up front. Shop around each year - never settle
for the renewal they offer, it's usually a rip off.

    Marc

[what, me bitter about getting ripped off after my
bike was nicked? (to the tune of about UKP 1000 - the
difference between what they offered and the price of
ANY comparable bike) Or after the accident (I figure I
got ripped off for about UKP 900 to 1200 on the resale
value of the bike) Or still not getting any money two years
after the blind dozy bitch hit me? **** 'em, **** em all
    between the eyes.]

Blimey. I pay about 250 TPFT for mine. But then, I'm a bit younger,
don't have a full NCB (yet) and live in London.

Plus, I possibly have to pay extra for the breakdown risk...

Postcode makes a big difference - I bet they load it as you is furrin
too... How old are you then? I guessed you were about 35 from your
    postings.
    :)

I only had to use them once (after the French Affair) and they were
still using the RAC then. They were very good it has to be said.

Your guess is spot on. They don't know/care that I'm foreign as I've
got a UK license, but I've only passed my full test in '99 which might
    also make a difference.

And yes, people keep telling me that I live in a "bad" postcode. TBH I
haven't noticed that, but then again I probably wouldn't be the prime
candidate around here for a breakin.
Mondial - which is the company they're using now - seems to be a lot
better in the UK than the RAC. Can't comment on the difference in
foreign countries as I've only use Mondial in France.

Yay!! Simes gets one right and goes onto round two...
I suspect it might - not only from the point of not having full NCD yet,
but I suspect they might even load the policy somewhat based on amount
of time riding. I passed my test a few days after my 17th birthday in
1979 and have had a bike and insurance continuously since.
We are out in the sticks a bit here - and bike is in locked garage etc.
Although I suspect I am paying a bit over the odds as the policy
includes use for travelling between sites as part of my business
(excluding courier work) - so I use it to go to and from work and to go
to meetings etc while at work.
I'm sure you will be able to give us a detailed report on their service
    levels before long ;-)
