Cancelled my insurance with Bennetts as I got a better quote from CN.
Just got my paperwork back from CN. My ungaraged bike has magically
become garaged and has also lost its immobiliser. I've read previous
posts, after the damage has been done, and they seem to suggest that
this is a bit of scam for some companies. And, if previous post are
anything to go by, then on Monday, when I inform them of their error,
    I'm going to have problems.

I'm just wondering whether a visa debit card has the same clout as a
credit card in sorting out retailers dodgy pracitces.

  2. In my (relatively limited) experience with Carole Nash they have been
cheerful, helpful and efficient. This sounds like an error and on the
assumption that you provided all of the correct info the first time
round then you shouldn't have a problem - I can't see CN running a scam.
CN certainly have a far better reputation than Bennetts.

Sadly a debit card does not carry the guarantee of a credit card. It's more
a-kin to handing over a cheque.

CN are indeed remarkably efficient - or at least, they always have
been in my dealings with them - and several others of whom I have
    first-hand knowledge.

They are however, bastards for printing erroneous details on insurance
documents. Wrong index marks, apparent garages, incorrect names and
marital status ... All have been corrected at no charge or increase in
premium, in their usual "tell us over the phone and we'll teleport
ther documents to you, so they'll appear on your doormat tomorrow
    morning" way.

I don't think they'll scam you. If they try to, let us know, eh?

Hope that's the case. I'm cynical enough already. Twas a good deal as
well with breakdown recovery thrown in n' all.

I've just spent the last few days looking for cheaper insurance/recovery
than CN. With another company I was offered offered £110 for TPFT plus
recovery for one bike. They wanted more policies for more bikes. CN want
    £130 for 1 bike, £160 for 2 and £190 for 3. As I have 3 bikes it makes CN
    the best bet

I long for the days of the rider policy - they will probably never return.

I've just worked it out, I've been paying bike insurance since 1966 and
never claimed. At (index linked) about £150 a year I've paid in £5550; why
    are they still charging me?

Eatmorepies was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
    "Because they can"

Or the post version - it's called residual risk or something like
that. You're paying the fee for riding/driving, simply because there's
always some risk that you might be involved in an accident, no matter
how good a driver and how experienced you are.

I think I'll be reading the manual on my telephone so I can record
    outgoing conversations.

I bought insurance from CN couple years ago - the paperwork had me as
39 instead of 29. Pretty simple typo on their part I thought, 1962
instead of 72 for dob, but they wouldn't change and wanted to quote
much higher, so I cancelled. Strange, as their quote wasn't much
better than others, not 10 years age better. Better off with Bike
Team. Sometimes. Phone round a lot.
