    I hate this time of year...Insurance is due, and I hate all the same questions
    over and over again. One quote I have received is rather favourable and is from
    "ChoiceQoute" via www.clickquote.com Has anyone used these people before, and
    if so are they any good?

    TIA

    Currently insured with them. They weren't the cheapest for the basic cover,
    but were the cheapest for an inclusive package of insurance, breakdown
    cover, legal expenses etc etc.

    They did initially provide the quote based on 6,000 miles per annum. When I
    pointed out I do somewhat more than that, it only cost a fiver to raise
    that to unlimited mileage.

    I didn't think £150 for TPFT unlimited mileage and business use was too bad
    on a GTR.

    I used them last year & didn't have any problems. What was nice was the
    quote didn't triple when I told thenm that the bike wasn't garaged. They got
    the details right & I didn't make a claim so can't comment on that side of
    things. This year the price went up by £30+, so I changed to another broker.

    I found them to be a bit expensive and not particularly flexible.

    You should try

    http://www.biketeam.co.uk/

    and if you go with them let me know so I can tell them I recommended
    them to you and get £20 off them.

    'Bennetts in cheap quote' shocker. Just renewed with Bennetts at over
    £100 quid cheaper than the renewal quote from my current insurers.
    Includes free puncture recovery which may be useful.

    I was surprised with my previous insurer that despite my no claims
    bonus going from 3 to 4 years, I've now had a full licence for >2
    years rather than >1, the bikes value has depreciated, yet the quote
    goes up by over 10%.

    I think I might be going TPFT from now on ...

    £864 from Auntie Carole.

    Not really worth it on a 5yo Blackbird, and an 8yo Wing, is it?

    How much cheaper is TPFT though? I bet a fair bit of that comes from the
    theft risk, what with you living in a dangerous inner-city battlezone.

    The Z200 is on a classic policy with CN, with the R80RT and the Drifter as
    additional bikes. £224.64 FC, Euro breakdown, riding other bikes etc,
    recent accident claim still unresolved, down from £255 when I pointed out
    that the Trophy didn't need to be insured...

    Here?

    Elysian Fields, mate, and no mistake.

    Well, they were. It's all flats now, of course.

    I note the final large "industrial" unit on the IOD is currently being
    demolished.

    So much for the birthplace of the Great Eastern. <sob>

    I tried that with the KH500, and they laughed. It doesn't work like
    that with "real" motorbikes, apparently.

    Eh? I haven't been shot by a GI in *weeks*.

    To be serious for a moment, the IOD is by far the most peaceful place
    I've lived since I moved up to t'smoke in 1982.

    Clapham Common was "lively" as could be expected;
    East Acton was noisy as ****, seeing as I lived *on* Western Avenue;
    North Acton was like an unruly version of Fallujah;
    Millwall is an oasis of calm and serenity.

  16. I wondered about that with the old Duke - and the ShiteOldSaab - before
    I flogged it.

    FC is also about hassle factor. There are *so* many uninsured wankers
    about these days. I know at least three people who've been the subject
    of hit-and-run on bikes....

    I know there's MIB[1] cover etc etc, but FC insurance just means peace
    of mind.

    Mine's £195 FC with Carole Nash - as above but I'm a *lot* younger than
    Platy. The policy covers a collective of MZs (now down to 3); the Turbo;
    a shite old XS400 and my Guzzi. Brighton - insured as none garaged.
