just had a guy at the door selling personal injury insurance for
dangerous sports, specifically for motocross riders, he was given my
    name by a mate allegedly...

when I asked who he worked for all he would say was "an American
insurance company", wouldn't give the name, and when I asked for a
business card he said "sorry we don't give out business cards" so I told
    him to sling his hook.

thing is I need the insurance, risked it last year without, but can't
find a reputable broker/company in the UK...

does anyone know of any ?

    thanks
    Les

Well done. That would've been a rep from the Combined Insurance Co of
America. Bunch of shysters unless they have changed the way they operate
since I came across them a few years ago. Pyramid selling of insurance
effectively. All agents are self employed with a hierarchical commission
    system.
I'd contact the ACU & RAC. I took out RAC cover last time I went
karting. Surely they have schemes for MotoX too?

    An internet search produced this

At my front door this is the point when I get to practice my use of the
    phrase "**** off".
