the age old question... my insurance renewal has come through from Auntie Carole and it seems a lot [1]. I know Pip & Elly has recommended the peeps who they're with but I cant find out who it is with. so, any suggestions...? In uk.rec.motorcycles, Adrienne M Bonwick amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom: Well I had the same quandary. My insurance renewal cam through (for my car) at the weekend and it also seemed jolly expensive. I phoned round the usual suspects and noone could quote me happy like Carole Nash. Premium choice[1] came a close second but they still wanted more than CN. [1] 0800 3165348
I use these: http://www.expressinsurance.co.uk/s....quickcarquote.co.uk&page=bike_insurance.html They were far cheaper than AC.
Motorcycle Direct just put a smile on my face. They even quote low enough on a 10R to remove insurance as a stumbling block. Shame about the purchase price, mind...
Well they sent me a quote which arrived on Saturday so it must have been *very* recently. The quote was much higher than Bennetts/Carole/EBike were though.
In uk.rec.motorcycles, Ben Blaney amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom: That's fifty quid cheaper than my Mondeo.
Yeah, that might be because I ticked the box that said "are you going to be living 6000 miles from this bike, and therefore it'll hardly leave the garage?".
the cunts have just pissed me right off (in a swings and roundabouts manner). They sent out the renewal letter a month or so ago, quoting 326 quid for my multi-bike policy. I kinda forgot about it, and only phoned them at the weekend (renewal today). "Oh, that's gone up now, sir - it'll be 350 now". Well, it's only 24 quid, but it's still a fucking annoyance. On the other hand, it's dropped from around 480 last year and they were considerably cheaper than Carole Nash ("you want to insure two high-group sportsbikes, and you have an CD10 and an SP50? 600 quid, mate").
In uk.rec.motorcycles, Ben amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom: It's not the bikes so much as the premium. My bikes only cost £150 a year to insure (for the pair) and a (IIRC) £100XS. It's just the bloody car... With a premium like yours it almost makes getting a road rocket worthwhile. It'll also be interesting to see what happens to my premiums if and when I ever get into a place of my own back home.
Mine came up at something like 1080 TPFT or 1082 comp. Which is a lot of money, but my upper limit for something I really want is a grand, and I'm prepared to stretch that a bit for a 10R. Just need to find somebody who's giving one away...
Aye, Hastings came in with a renewal quote of about £420, got it down to £380 fairly quickly, then £280 after a chat with the underwriter, but still couldn't come close to the £232 I got from MCD. Now to give it working brakes so I can use the bugger...
it's odd - it's not like they use an obscure underwriter[1], but MCD seem to be very much cheaper than anyone else, yet the policy still has things like European cover, DAS breakdown cover etc. [1] mine's with Equity Red Star, for instance.
On an unrelated note, while looking up a CD10 I had a brief scan of other possible convictions and noticed these: DR40 In charge of a vehicle while alcohol level above limit (10pts) DR50 In charge of a vehicle while unfit through drink (10pts) I don't understand the difference. MS20 Unlawful pillion riding (3pts) Would those three points go to the 'driver' or the pillion?
