How many here rely on the renewal notice from insurance companies?

I generally have a rough idea of when insurance is due and check the
    docs once in a while.

The last time I checked it was due "in a few weeks". So I forgot about
it. Unfortunately so, apparently, did Master Quote, formerly Mitchell
    & Partners.

I am now insured through Carole Nash after a short, ahem, insurance
    holiday. ****.

You got away with it so I'd say that's a bonus.

I took one of those about a month ago. Once I realised I renewed the
insurance, online. Just as well really, as I had a nice chat with a
    policeman the next day.

He wasn't bothered about the speed, the bald tire or the race can. He
did, however, want a little chat about the accidental covering of the
    number plate.

Happened to me last year on my MOT, 3 months... Ooops. (I dug the old one
out thinking, maybe I can get 13 months if I take this in, shit, it ran out
    3 months ago).

I now have a sticker on my windscreen with the date on (I am that forgetful)
