Somehow I've survived to celebrate my 3rd motorcycle insurance renewal
which will take place on 8th March.

I'm sure someone's mentioned in the past the cost of a decent
UK/European breakdown service that rivals (operates?) Carole Nash's so
that I can work out how decent their quote is. Can you remember who
it's through and how much it costs?

Highlights of the quotes (15,000 miles, 1 non-fault claim last year,
    25 years old, 1998 GSF600n, TPF&T):

    * £208.92 Carole Nash (Equity Red Star) (CURRENT INSURER u/w Highways)
    Excess: £250
    EU use: Yes
    CIHAGM: Yes
    Breakdown/Recovery: Yes
    Legal cover: Yes

    * £162.75 eBike
    Excess: £175
    EU use: Yes? (Unclear)
    CIHAGM: No? (Unclear)
    Breakdown/Recovery: £39.90 extra
    Legal cover: Yes

    * £134.06 Confused.com/DirectChoice (Equity Red Star)
    Excess: £200
    EU use: Yes
    CIHAGM: Yes
    Breakdown/Recovery: No
    Legal cover: Yes

    * £117.60 Bennetts (Chaucer)
    Excess: £150
    EU use: Yes
    CIHAGM: NO
    Breakdown/Recovery: £59 extra for UK/EU 'recovery + some breakdown'
    Legal cover: £25 extra

I went with Auntie Carole last year as her policy represented the best
cover for the money, not the cheapest overall quote. In my 1
non-fault claim last year she behaved very well and was very helpful.
Because of this and her reputation I'm tempted to take up her offer
    (can I beat her down?)

I insured with DirectChoice (Equity Red Star) via Confused.com my
first year and it does represent good value for money but I never made
a claim. My beloved employer provided Bells & Whistles UK/EU Green
Flag cover for el cheapo (they sell it) staff concessions rate so that
was helpful. I also that that it's sometimes useful to have ones
recovery with a different company to the insurance provider so that
one doesn't know everything about t'other.

I've got quotes from Auntie Carole, Confused.com (Norwich Union,
DirectChoice, Thebikeinsurer.co.uk, Bennetts, Hastings Direct) and
    eBike so far.

    Go here:

    http://www.moneysupermarket.com/bike/

Click on the second link down, in the centre of the page, "The Bike
Insurer" and submit one form for ten quotes.

Bear in mind that you often get what you pay for and that levels of
cover vary - also that this advice is worth what you paid for it.

Did a quote through THe Bike Insurer already. Came up with two
    options which weren't competitive.

I think I@ve got through the main ones.

According to my email exchange with them they'll cover EU, plus
    Switzerland (the latter being new).
No, but you can supposedly add temporary bike that'll give you exactly
    that.

I ended up with CN again after they managed to combine the classic
bikes (bar the Triumph) and the modernish ones on one policy again.
