Insurance question

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Insanely Sensible, May 25, 2004.

  1. Does anyone know if it is possible to get fire and theft insurance for a
bike that won't be on the road (temporarily)?
The GPZ is being delivered Friday but I don't have a full licence yet. I
tried a couple of brokers and it was a flat no. Any suggestions (preferably
    sensible ones)?

Logic doesn't work when the drone only has drop down boxes to choose from.

GPZ500 has more than 33bhp (58) so cannot be insured as a direct access
bike unless a certified restriction kit is fitted. Any false declaration
could lead to invalidation of the insurance. I think your logic processor
    needs recalibration.

I think it's more he can't insure it without having a licence.

  10. Since when has logic had anything to do with insurance companies?

as a few others have said, approach your home contents insurers, and
    see what they say.

    WHat happens if you're banned?

It um, was a test - yes that's it - to see if anyone reads the context.
Same for me as I can't remember what I was trying to ask.
Possibly something along the lines of can you get insurance for a new bike
    if you're banned.

  15. I assumed you meant if you are banned is the bike still insured against
theft, which is a pretty similar situation to the one I'm in.

I meant what if you're currently banned, but want to buy a new bike for when
    you're banned.
Which is still sort of like what you're looking for because it's a bike that
isn't being used, but needs to be insured.

Of course none of this is any closer to answering your question :)

Dunno, but ever insurance policy I've had I've had to have a licence
for that vehicle. And had to prove it. Probably because I've been
insuring them for use rather than as a garage ornament.

Someone else's idea of house contents would do me if I wasn't using a
bike on the road for a bit.

Postpone delivery [1]? Why do you _have_ to have the bike this week? You
    can't ride it (legally).
