    Last year I paid 214 quid to insure the '05 SV650S, '98 CBR600
trackbike and the '81 SR250 all FC on a multibike policy. I got this
year's renewal notice through and it had jumped to 439 quid with the
'09 Versys in place of the SV650S. A quick call to Auntie Carole and
they can't give me an explanation, so I asked them to remove the SR and
CBR as I am selling the 250 and using the CBR on track only. This
brought the policy down to a nicer 165 sheets FC. Neither me nor the CN
    geezer could understand how a '98 CBR600 worth 800 quid and a '81 SR250
worth 700 quid could make my premium so high.

Anyway, I went with the 165 quid option and I'll buy yet another FOAD
lock and ground anchor for the CBR instead. I only really insured it to
give me theft cover and only took it out on the road a handful of times.

  2. Carole Nash seems to be taking the piss on their quotes these days. They
just seem to pluck a figure from the air and then double it.

That annoys me in itself, but what annoys me further is that they seem
amazingly willing to drop the price when you haggle, which proves that
they were taking the piss in the first place.

They're getting like double-glazing salesmen in this respect.

Actually they seem a bit reluctant to, but the chap on the phone saw
the funny side when I said "new customers only" in the style of the
    Nationwide ad.

hmmm I just renewed mine this morning and didn't haggle. Maybe I should
have tried. I didn't check exactly but I don't think it went up much
    from last year.

  5. I got a renewal from them this morning, £165 FC for my Z1000. I wasn't
going to piss about,I was just going to renew it. Perhaps I'll haggle
a bit and see wha happens.

    Watch this space.
