    I've just recieved a cheque for £450 for the TZR (Which is what we agreed
    on), but there is no mention of what is going to happen with the bike. Would
    this imply that it is mine to do what I wish with?

    I'm going to call them up after lunch anyway, since they have mistakenly
    sent me someone elses cheque aswell, so I can ask them then, but I was just
    wondering what you lot thought.

    It's not mine, is it?

    Bloody useless insurance companies:

    Less than a week after the accident (i.e. ~8 weeks ago) the garage sent
    them a letter saying that in their opinion the bike was "beyond economic
    repair";
    I phoned them two weeks ago, to ask WTF was happening, and why hadn't I
    heard from them;
    They said they'd be sending out an engineer;
    I go away on holiday for two weeks, and when I get back there's a letter
    asking for an estimate of repair costs. FFS.

    Time for a phone call, probably involving a free and frank exchange of
    views. Pah.
    Ummm... it'd be tempting to keep the bike, wait until you're sure
    they've forgotten about it, then do something with it (flog it, whole or
    in parts?).

    However, no matter how long you waited, they'd be sure to ask about it
    approximately one week later, so I guess you're best off checking now.
    And ask them to confirm it in writing.

    What happened to it? Stolen/damaged/recovered, was it? In which case,
    they're probably not going to be arsed to pick it up, as its worth
    ****-all to them, but technically they probably could.
    Offer them a fiver for it, if you actually want it - otherwise insist
    they take it away.

    Oh, and how much is the other cheque for?

    £432 to some really posh sounding double barrel surnamed person, but I've
    posted that back to the solicitors. Apparently the bike is mine to do what I
    want with, so I can now sell that for some more space and a bit more cash.

    My heart wants to fix it up, cos it was fun to ride, but I know it really
    isn't worth it.

    It's a TZR125, if I was going to get a track bike, I'd like something that I
    couldn't ride flat out on the road.

    You could have a surprising amount of fun on a track on an
    unrestricted 125.
