*Never_ever* again will I complain about my insurance costs if the figures
quoted in MCN[1] today are anywhere near correct in their 125s test...
£800-odd fucking quid for TPFT with a year's no claims? And £1200-odd for
    the fucking Sachs?

And I used to whinge at paying £60 for a Norwich Union 'Rider' policy when I
    was 17![2]

[1] Which, knowing it *is* MCN could be bollocks
[2] Which wasn't *that* long ago compared with some of the posters here.....

When I was 18, I bought an rs125 with an insurance deal - only 700ukp
    for FC for a year.

When I got the docs Aprilia had stumped up ~2965ukp for the policy. It
dropped to 1300ukp for the renewal.

This time around looks like I'll be paying around £900 for a year TPO on the
    Gixxer 400.
TZR was around £400 TPO I think for my first year.

    Fucking hell.

How old are you? When I was, er, 20 I was paying 500 tpft for an
FZR400RRSP. Try a tpft quote, it'll probably be the same as tpo, and
    may even be lower.

I'm 18. TPFT was another couple of hundred, an this was the cheapest company
I could find after a days calling round.

    FFS!
IIRC I was paying about £90pa to insure my little polytechnic<->work<->home
100cc runabouts when I was at that sort of age.
Mind ewe, I'd shied away from the 125s even then cos the insurance costs
jumped up somewhat (to about £200 IIRC) and I wasn't exactly rolling in
    dosh.

  8. Being 23 insurance is murder on the pocket. Its unbelievable what we have to
    pay.

Currently riding a 125 cc scooter *ahem* just sat my theory and passed and
am moving onto do a DAS and not looking forward to what my first motorcycle
insurance is going to be like. Currently on my scooter *cough* I'm coughing
    up £395 TPFT

    Cheers

Only £395? You really haven't even started seeing how high the numbers go.

Put it this way, if you think £395 is high - you're going to be using that
    scooter for quite awhile :)
