Anyone have a recommendation for insurance in Houston? Progressive's
"progressive" rate increases are getting old.

    I sure do...go VOTE!!!

Get involved more and help put a stop to the insurance problems which
we're seeing. While we're at it, we might as well do something about
the utility problems and the health care issues.

I've Dairyland also, good package, Tarrant, Valkyrie, Intruder.

AARP magazine has an ad stating they have joined with Foremost offering
low cost M/C insurance. I haven't checked their price but might be worth
looking into.... and yeah, time flies, you're old enough.... louie

    They are progressive alright! LOL

I went online to progressive and got a new online quote - that was
significantly less than what I was paying. To make a long story
short, they couldn't explain it and had to cancel my existing account
and create a new one with the online quote reference and it dropped my
    rate a lot.

I'm sure you offer a great recommendation, but won't that contact
saddle your premium with a perpetual agent commission cost?

Perhaps Dairyland only operates via agents?

I just paid my last Progressive statement(meaning my next annual
renewal will be moved due to these "mystery" premium increases).

I'm not a big telephone proponent in these, and other circumstances,
does your guy, Dick Thompson, have email?

    Thanks - Gary

Ditto here. Progressive's quotes on the FJR were something like
1600.00 a year with the coverage I have. I went through The Hull
Agency in Ft. Worth and initially got Dairyland for $500 a year, then
$450 a year and now, $275 a year for the exact same coverage.

3000 in accessories without a rider

Exactly! It was a new model back then. All the other carriers have
figured it out except for Progressive. When talking to Dairyland I had
to give them examples of like bikes, so I used to Kaw Connie and the
Honda ST1100 (saddle bags standard, touring bike). From that they
were able to work up a quote (and you can thank me later).

Thanks all. Looks like there may be viable alternatives out there. I'll
    start contacting them soon.

As opposed to the Shadow 1100 I rode the other day. I twisted the heck
out of that right grip and, in return, the bike only got louder (not
    faster). :-(

    I use Markel (in California) @ www.bike-line.com . Haven't had to make a
    claim (hopefully never will).
Pay $60 + $15 for roadside asst. yearly for liability. Of course, Norton is
classified as "antique motorcycle" in Texas and of course I only ever ride
it to shows and club events, I swear!

  17. That's the Volume control on the Shadows.
The Faster control is on the CBR1100.
