Insurance for the banned.

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Whinging Courier, Mar 5, 2004.

  1. Oh fount of all knowledge:

I've phoned CN, MD, Devitt DA, they won't quote.

I tried a little company in Aylesbury who couldn't quote but he's going
to try and get a quote for me from various other insurers.

It seems my postcode and the TT99 is the determining factor so I've
tried shaving a few points off by not carrying pillions, doing 5000
miles or less a year, using it for pleasure only etc but still no joy
    (yet).

Anyone had any luck getting insurance after a ban? I thought the premium
might go up a bit but was more than a little surprised at being offered
    no quotes at all!

As a footnote, I'd rather not have to sell my bike and ride something
    smaller if at all poss.

    Cheers

Must admit I was stunned that my kid brother got insured [1] by Bennetts
after a drink driving ban, have you tried them?

  7. bummer.

How about getting a ike mag and checking the ads at the back?
Often see loads of "points? Banned? Modified? call us for a quote..."

    They sounds expensive tho :/

My Lad got insurance from these folk http://www.insuremybike.uk.com/ [1] as
advertised in MCN. He was 18 with 6 points [2] wanting insurance on a ped
    and working in a pub.

[1] No idea what they're like in paying out

These are the ones I've been trying. Telling porkies, the lot of em.

In desperation I even tried Norwich Union Direct but their phone system
is shite, using some sort of VOX system and coupled with the fact their
operators sound like they come from Bombay and don't know how to spell
the English name of Mark then it's a fucking no go :-(
ATM, I'm prepared to pay almost anything.

  10. That's because they are located in the Indian sub-continent - call centres,
the curse of the customer :(

NUD were quite cheap last year for me, but their call centre system sucks!

    REEEEEESULT!!!!!

    Motorcycle direct - £256.10 with £500 XS. [1]

    Fucking A!!!

All I've got to do now is hope that I can still get a quote and keep the
price in ten days (that'll be the time expiry period for when a quote is
valid) and then I'll be good to go! [2]

[1] Cheaper than previous insurance *without* a ban!

    You did read the page?

This is not an installer, you just put the gravity.exe in your Gravity
folder and say yes to wanting to replace the existing one.
