    Grossly overrated.

    Yes, get a less-pikey bank account/credit card.

If I was going, yes, but she's abandoning me and going alone (Work will
be too busy for me to go) and she's too young

Maybe so, but its booked, and its not for me

I was there last year and Its a lot better than it was when I worked
    there 20 years ago

(I also worked in Padang which looks like its in need of a bit of
    reconstruction)
Believe me, I have - its not even in the first division

Despite being remarkably civilised, Davao has no smoking in public buildings
or spaces for instance, it is the most affordable place in Asia to live ATM.
I hope that doesn't mean they can't afford decent health insurance ;o)

On the few occasions that I've needed a doctor or hospital in Indonesia,
the cost didn't even exceed the excess (including when I impailed myself
on a spike (10cm - I measured the subcutenaous fat on the spike later)
and had to go to hospital for stitches)

Its for my wife who will be making a few internal flights and
cancellation could mean her not getting back to Bali in time for the
    homeward bound flight

not quite sure what you mean by "affordable"

It means I could retire here in considerable comfort tomorrow ;o)

Unfortunately the women are mostly so gorgeous it makes your teeth hurt, and
we all hate toothache. And as for unremitting sunshine <spits>
