Just having a mooch around for online insurance quotes for my bike and
had a quick mooch in the FAQ for help. Like a muppet I followed the
Bennets Insurance FAQ causing much hilarity as my boss just happened to
    be looking :)

Anyway any recommendations? With 2 years NCB I'm definately going to
shop around this time although the renewal at £201 (TPFT) is pretty
competitive I reckon. At some point there was a web page which listed a
load of insurance companies who had come out cheap for particular bikes.

For the moment I'd prefer online rather than speaking to people on the
phone which all the big companies seem to advocate now. I'd much rather
deal with a web page than a person :)

    Cheers

That's pretty good. I got it down to 250 with 3 years NCB with CIA
    Insurance.

The Thou is insured through H&R (http://www.insurance2000.co.uk) who
were very good, but I can't remember them quoting as well on the 750.

Tried H&R came out at over £400. In fact even with my current broker's
online quote system I can't get one as good as that.

I might have to phone them and enquire about a couple of policy
exclusions I don't like though. For one I'm not covered on other bikes,
which is an occasional ballache. More importantly though I'm paranoid
about the "not covered for theft if it's within x yards of your property
and not in your garage" bit. Having my car nicked last year has made
me not like that one little bit, even though it's never left on the drive.

    I guess I'll keep looking.

I just passed my DAS test a month or so back and got a bandit 600S, '98
plate. I'm 29 and live in Edinburgh with obviously no previous bike
experience. The bike is kept overnight in a private parking area. I phoned
over 30 or so insurers, including all the big names and the best quote I got
was from Virgin Bikes. TPFT including breakdown (RAC) for £190, which I
thought was good considering I have no 'no claims'! The dearest quote was in
excess of £500 from some little broker! The policy also includes all
expected legal cover and was like for like with every other quote I got.
Best thing to do is keep phoning around, especially if they are a freephone
    number.

    Better. In so many ways.

Well quite, but I was meaning in terms of insco premiums.
As it turns out, there's no obvious difference to premium, so that's a
result. It also means, my next renewal in 3 weeks could well end up
being under £300 FC. Which would also be a result.

I was looking around last night as H&R, while being uber-competitive
for covering me on the Bandit, are awful at quoting me on anything
    sporty.

Best quotes came from www.directchoice.co.uk, runner up was
www.aquote.co.uk. Bennetts were a joke. Given that it was about
3am at the time, I've not tried calling auntie or owt.
