Instant fine for overdue tax

Which I would have to keep for 12 months for 5 vehicles.... not thanks. I
prefer to pay by Cheque or card and use that as proof.

Apparently you must either tax it or sorn it.

So the new rule is merely enforcing the previous rule.

It doesn't say anything about pre-sorn machines.
If we all send off our V890 forms for all the old boxes
of bits in the garage, it will crash the DVLA 'pooter!

point at the tax disc attached to your motorcycle.

It's a million to one chance, but it might *just* work.

So, Bruce, your cheque book stub would be *more* proof of having taxed
your bike, than the valid tax disc attached to it?

Have a think about it, and get back to me.

Responding to their allegation of not taxing it, with "look, yes I
have, here's the disc.", does not constitute an "appeal".
