InsBroker in "Unhelpful and uncooperative" non-shocker

I was going to post something slightly stronger as a subject line,
however, given the telephone conversation I've just had with said broker,
I suspect they'd happily take me to court for libel.

I will however, sum up the facts.

Some of you may recall my original post (http://tinyurl.com/odf2) where
this broker fucked-up and then made out that I was trying to put one over
them by ringing to point out /their/ mistake.

Ok, so the upshot of all that shit was that on 1 September I sent their
wretched documents back to them and included a covering letter stating
that I wanted my deposit back and that I would /not/ be paying their
    "administration charge".

    I've heard nothing.

I've just got off the 'phone to them to ask where my refund is. They
insist they've received nothing from me and won't refund my money until
    they receive the documents.

How fucking convenient, eh? The old "Must have got lost in the post" gag.

Now I guess I /am/ pretty stupid/naive for not sending it recorded
delivery, but when I asked what happens now 'cause I no longer /have/ the
documents and therefore, by their "process", I /cannot/ have my money
back, droid says "Well, you'll have to send us another letter before we
    can action this".

I pointed out that this was contradicting what she'd just said, but she
was adamant that if I wanted to send a letter then it would all be
    resolved.

I pointed out that I /didn't/ want to send a fucking letter, I wanted my
fucking money back (albeit more politely and better thought out).

I asked then if they'd like to see their name splattered all over the
popular motorcycling press, Usenet, web-forums, etc. to which she
responded that that was up to me.

    Grr!

So, I am going to comply, send them a letter, send the fucking thing
recorded delivery, in an armoured fucking car if needs be and see what
    happens next.

I've already told them that they will have one week from receipt of the
letter and then it's going to kick off.

On this latter point, what's best? Small claims court? Semtex? What?

  2. Did you type the original covering letter atht you sent with the
documents? If so, do you have a copy to at least print out and send
them again (even if minus the actual documents)?
You are assuming she remembers what she has just said, with the guilt
she carries of not being at home to make her husband's tea distracting
    her.
    Semtex. YKIMS.

  4. Ah, but you could bore them to death! Save on the semtex bills...
Quite. I'm off home to make my husband's tea ;o)

    [snip grief, etc.]
    Heh. Prolly not.

Mined ewe, given that an aspect of my conversation with them that I
omitted was (prior to my "discussion" over things having gone missing in
    the post):

Them: Well, it's probably being dealt with by our Customer Services
department. There are only two people in that department and they
probably haven't got round to it, yet.

Me: I'd like to speak to your Customer Services department then.

Them: They're not taking any calls right now.

    Me: How jolly convenient. Why?

Them: As I explained, sir, there are only two people in that department
and they have their 'phones diverted to us.

    ....etc.

So, on the strenght of that, I'd suggest the only way to get their
    attention is the aforementioned Semtex.

Also in Kettering. I've posted warnings about them before after they
completely fucked up my wife's insurance some years ago.

You should really get the name of the people you speak to, then send letters
of complaint to their superiors naming them.

    Heh, I have.

However, I'd like to actually get my money back, first.

Then, however, it'll be open season...

Very nice indeed... Not convinced about the ballistics comp based on a
    Cassiopeia PDA, though...

And, out of interest, have you recently renewed this policy?

All I can guess is that in between the 8th and the 28th, something
changed in their approach. That or you live in a blindingly low-risk (how
InsCo's work this out, I dunno) area. We recently discovered that NIG
Skandia (who, just by coincidence, my policy is now with) have six groups
based on post-code, A to F with A being lowest risk, etc.

    We're in F.
    :-(

No idea what risk level my place is, but I've got an SL postcode now,
which isn't the nicest to have, and W4 before that (5 minutes from
darkest Acton) so I doubt it was too low.

They must have changed their policy or summat. Which will be interesting
    come renewal time next year.

    SL?

Well that could be as low as "B" for SL7, "C" for SL4-6 and 8-9 up to the
lofty heights of "D" in SL0-3.
All of West Lunnon is down as "E" or "F" 'cept W10 and W11 which are
marked as "refer", i.e. forget it.
Indeed. Mine, however, although switching to a different insurer and
acquiring 6 points, went down a tad.
