If you own a bike with a centre stand, get it nice and straight then STEP
    DOWN HARD on the stand.
The result is a lovely plume of hot sparks onto the front bonnet paintwork
    of the Subaru.
This is especially effective at night.
Always a joy to watch the driver try to maintian control of the car is
he/she hits the brakes with both feet.

  4. Ack! Popped down to Penrith this morning to test-drive a new cage (yeah
I know, but I can't carry three kids* on my bike!), and there was what
seemed to be a Motorcycle Awareness Week ride happening - crapload o'
assorted bikes with pink ribbons hanging off 'em, riding 'round 'n 'round
    the block.

One of the ('twould appear female) riders was clad in flanno pyjamas!
Didn't get a chance to spot if she had matching Ugh boots on, but it
    wouldn't have surprised me.

    * Can't carry three kids legally in Australia. I know in certain Asian
countries it's the norm to carry your entire family (including grandparents
and the pets) on a 125cc scooter.

If they can afford a 125 they can afford to pay for a temporary permit
    to carry whoever they like.

  6. I've heard of that... Colleague travelled through a number of countries
(spanning from Thailand to Indonesia), and mentioned how once for USD$15 he
got an "official" international driver's license, scrawled hastily in pencil
on a scrunched up piece of paper by the cop who stopped him to check his
    credentials.

Methinks you got caught up in this:

"October is National Breast Cancer month. The pink ribbon
is the international symbol for breast cancer awareness.
Every year motorcyclists of Australia turn out in their
thousands to help in the fight against breast cancer.
The NSW Pink Ribbon Motorcycle Ride will be held on
23rd October 2005 along with similar events in other
    capital cities around Australia.
Riders will set out from North Richmond Panthers.
Visit the Trivia Quest checkpoints and return to North
Richmond Panthers for lunch & prizes."

  8. Thanks for clearing that up, GB. That certainly explains the pink
    ribbons!
