    <sigh>

Which brings me back to my original post to dwb that a K3/K4 thou might suit
him better than a new 750.

ah. I thought you were just talking about new both.

depends on whether the height is significant. IIRC he's a short arse
    too.

  3. That is news - well to me at least.
I can imagine that a Gixer will always call out to you once you've owned
    one of the breed.
You could buy Mr Ashworth's Triumph Sprint (see post to ukrm) - not a
lot of miles, comfy, big capacity engine. It'd act as a stop gap until
such time has you've had all your aching joints replaced by titanium or
you're accustomed to high levels of pain killing drugs that will allow
you to buy a Gixer Thou or 750.

Not in the leg department - seat height on the V-Strom is 84cm and I
can still touch down with both feet.

I can flat foot all the models of GSX-R I've sat on. Seat height is not
    an issue.

    Issue is knee/back ergonomics.

I could do worse, but I could also do a whole lot better.

Call me a heathen but the looks of the ZX range (especially the new
    ones) leaves me cold.

And if I'm looking at older bikes (as the ZX9 is) I'd choose the
    GSX-R1000 or R1 every time.

This isn't about practical. The V-Strom is practical. This would be a
nut case bike decision because I've decided that's what's missing - the
    nut case factor.

With this in mind I'm not going to buy anything at the moment. I'm
going to see how my work situation pans out and potentially give
serious thought to a 2007 GSX-R 1000 (so long as they do a black one),
    or failing that a 2006 GSX-R750 :)

But but but that range of Triumph's is so.. ugly. I really don't like
the 'round eye' look. The new ST is better, but the more I look at it,
the less I like the front and underseat exhausts suddenly look very
silly when compared to the new style ones on the R6/GSX-R's.
Heh - joint replacement might work. I think it's a commitment thing.
Maybe I should promise myself that if I can get fit, ease the backpain
    AND have a job, I can treat myself to a 1000 :)

  8. I prefer the "round" look to the new super pointy version. I'm sure
that if Honda restyled the VFR to be a slightly more up to date but
still very like the last VFR 750 and put a decent engine in it they'd
have a huge sales success on their hands. I don't understand the
    obsession with ruler edged styling.
Alternatively buy Champ's Gixer but make sure he cleans and repairs it
first. It's plenty roomy and well run in.

Actually - that may be a plan. I can keep both bikes :)

Oi Champ, how much do potentially want for the Gixer?

    that's what I say.

Depending on how my house buying goes, mine could potentially be up

    The bike, muppet.

Actually the house as well, but if 3k is stretching your budget, 220k
    will be well out.
