So, I think it's a fairly well known (by me at least) fact that I've
never quite bonded with the V-Strom as much as I hoped I would. In
fact, in a year it's only done 3000 miles and 900 of those were in one
trip. Yes it's competent, superbly comfortable and capable but...

I miss the GSX-R. Okay, not the back ache, or the ankle pain or any of
that - but I miss the excitement and the stupidness of owning such a
daft sort of transport (and yes I know it's not a 1000). I also miss
having such a (to me) nice looking machine in the garage.

I'm not sure if my current disinterest in riding is more deeply rooted
than just the bike, but I know it's not helping. Certainly I just don't
want to take the bike out for a quick spin and I certainly don't want
to look at it in the garage.

And then the voices start... up the road from me is an immaculate 05
GSX-R 750 (in the right colour) for sale that I have to say is calling
to me - it's in a dealer so I could swap the current machine plus a
small bit of cash for the 750...

It's not practical, it certainly won't take me to France in comfort or
in any way approaching sensibility - but boy am I tempted.

For the moment, the body and bank say no... but still it's tempting...

I *really* want one of those but can't justify a second bike costing
circa 4k and don't want one enough to lose the gixxer. Doesn't stop
me checking ebay every other day though.

a V-strom is - at best - a "second bike". No way could I entertain the
notion of having one if I could only have one bike[1].
oranges are not the only fruit.
That'll be "never", then, of course.
I saw someone on an orange one pull a cracking wheely[2] away from the
lights on Newgate Street at the top of Old Bailey - further convincing
    me that I want one.

[1] fortunately, this isn't the case - if it were, I'd be fucked
trying to make a decision as to what it would be.
[2] though not as impressive as the bloke on the red/black R1 I saw
last Saturday pulling a wheely on the A10 pretty much the whole way
from the Lincoln Road junction to Southbury road - I was sitting in
the car going the other way, and it looked very impressive.

faster, lighter, less 70s-throwback-oriented, available in orange,
Kiran thinks they're gay - what more could you want.

I'm popping to Colin Collins in Watford tomorrow - I may be some time.

I've never actually ridden one but I'm pretty sure it would be exactly
what I expect. A mate has one but the miserable **** won't let me
    anywhere near it.

Well I could yes - it's just the convenience factor and I happen have
been reasonably impressed with the Suzuki's I've had thus far.
Yes that is a possibility I suppose.

It's all a bit moot as I think I'd be a bit mad to spend mega money
    whilst facing potential unemployment.

Get a loan with "suddenly unemployed/redundant" insurance. Lob 'em a payment
or two, then let th' insurance take up the slack.

Funny how different bikes appeal to different people. I have bonded very
well with the Gixer, to the extent that I really can't see any other
bike that I would replace it with. On the other hand, I've had so much
fun screaming round on my shagged old Bandit 600 recently. Two very
different bikes, but each one gives me so much pleasure.

I used to really enjoy my crash knackered old Fazer. Wallowed
everywhere and felt like it would spit me off in every corner, mega
    fun.

    I need a cheap anti-gixxer bike.
