Fitted to VFR by the boy and myself. Not too bad a job actually, refitting the carb assembly was prolly the fiddliest bit. I suppose I'll have to give it a run tomorrow to make sure all is okay. -- Dan L Too much time to think, too little to do. http://thebikeshed.spaces.live.com/ 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005/6/7) X-FOT#000 DIAABTCOD #26 BOMB#18 (slow) OMF#11
Quite We got 'em off ebay for a tenner each. FFS. The boy reckons he could manufacture them at work on the lathe, although it would be a very wasteful use of stainless steel rod. I guess we now need to dyno the bike to prove it's BHP in case the insco ask. -- Dan L Too much time to think, too little to do. http://thebikeshed.spaces.live.com/ 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005/6/7) X-FOT#000 DIAABTCOD #26 BOMB#18 (slow) OMF#11
I thought they were meant to be fitted by a dealer who then gave you a certificate or some such? Either way, it would be naughty to take them off as soon as you had the proof of fitting....
Iridium says... You don't need a fitting certificate, that was just a ploy by F1 International, who make and sell these kits, to make a shitload of money from unsuspecting new riders and anyone who bought them secondhand. The bastards should be strung up for that. All you need is a dyno printout to show your insco. -- Lozzo Triumph Daytona 955i SE Suzuki SV650 K3 Honda CBR600 F-W Suzuki GSX-R750L Yamaha SR250 SpazzTrakka
Apparently ebike insco don't even want to see that. We will however be visiting Road and Track to get the dyno run sorted, and have photographed the restrictors in situ (just in case like)
Just make sure they're fitted after the accident. Had a long and interesting discussion with an insco inspection engineer a few years ago who suggested "tongue in cheek" that they should build tanks out of the same stuff as OEM sportsbike exhaust cans, as every time he was called-in to inspect a bike, battered from end-to-end with every panel smashed and the forks bent etc, the OEM can were totally unmarked - amazing init!
They won't be coming out until the official expiry date (is this 2 years after passing test, or when he's 21?) He's pretty cool about it, which is helpful too.

Hmm. I give it about 2 months. I "wasn't going to ride the 250 until I'm 17" and that resolution lasted about 2 weeks. Fortunately my parents seemed incapable of stopping me doing most things I wanted; thank heavens for demanding jobs.
