    Folks,
anyone got the good oil on inkjet ink? (Canon S100SP)
I bought from easyrefills.com.au last time but I just thought I'd check with the brains-trust first.

I use the ink to print out pictures of motorcycles.
    Thanks .... Clem

I tried www.inkman.com.au for cheaper refills for a Canon S520 but found
them to be unreliable (blockages and colour is off) so I have gone back to
the original Canon stock from Officeworks.

They are all crap (refills), false economy.
A bit like using old sump oil in your bike.

My printer cost $95 and I've refilled it about 20 times using the left-over Epson ink that I bought a few
years ago and some Callidad inks that cost me $5 at a Dick Smith's bargain table.
I figure that if I chuck the printer out tomorrow I'm probably still $100 ahead.
    False economy?

I'm deciding what to do. I have a cheap Officworks supplied HP 3420 $70.
It's still on its first carts. However, they're near empty. New carts
cost more than what the printer's worth. Looking for refill kits for it
at present. Otherwise, I'm better off throwing the printer out and
    getting a new one...

Erk. What are you on? Is it a QLD thing. If so, don't bring it down with
you in Oct (if you're going to the AGP, that is...)

Be very careful. To make the price of new printers more competitive a
lot of manufacturers are supplying them with ink and toner cartridges
which are not the same as the replacements you buy. Some laser
printers come with a 200 page cartridge when the standard one is 2000
    pages.

The other thing to note is that ink cost about three times as much per
    page as toner.

Ink refills will usually completely **** your print head
    within one or two goes.

I used one on my old Epson printer, and it fucked the print heads
in about 30 pages of printing - new print heads cost more then
the printer was worth, so I ditched it.

Either pay the extra for genuine carts, or if that's too
expensive, chuck the printer and buy a new cheap one. You can
get the mongrels for $100 these days.

Yep, I think that this HP that I bought has such carts in it. I'll see
if I can refill them, though.

We're still using an Epson Color 800 after about 5 years. Gets a fair
bit of use and can still hold its own against some of the more fancied
modern printers. In fact, at work here, we have an Epson LX800 in the
chem lab which we use to print out reports. It's connected to a PS/2
Model 50 IBM PC (does silica analysis).

Was there such a version? In any case, no, it runs DOS 6.
