Initial thoughts on the VFR

So I have a VFR V-Tec in the garage on loan whilst my GSX-R is assessed.
This afternoon I had cause to need to use it.

The first time I rode one I only had it for 10 minutes, on shit tyres - and
    I thought it was rubbish.

This one isn't rubbish and at least it handles - but my god - it's so
BORING. I realise that's what has been said before but it's true.

It's certainly no slouch - but there is just no excitement - no intoxicating
induction roar, no feeling of the bike attacking the road, no whistle form
the exhaust - just no engagement. The V-Tec is dull and annoying when
compared to the power band(s) on my girl's bike 600.

I got off not remembering anything about the ride I'd just done - that's
    _never_ happened on the GSX-R.

Sure you can go fast - but I can do faster speeds on the GSX-R and get _so_
    much more from it.

Oh well, maybe I'll learn to like it more if I need to ride it again.

<continues to wait for news from assessment>

You did remember to keep the revs *above* 7k? Just checking like.

Wise words, but only if you've never ridden a BMW.

    Couple of points here:

    1) The g6 is not and never will be a girls bike, or indeed, a bike for
    girls. Hurrumph.

    2) The VFR, although a girls bike, is preferable to the g6 for the man
who must travel long distances at night with panniers.

    3) Two or three hundred miles in a day on the g6 is ok, but much more
than that and I'd take the VFR every time.

    4) No bike is boring. Having no bike is boring.
Best of luck with that - I think I'd cry if someone twatted my gixxer.

I've never ridden one, but they can't be _that_ bad surely. Although
they do seem popular with the IAM.

I ride a 600 - what do you think? I kept blooming well red lining the poor
    thing.

As I said, it certainly GOES - but IMO it just isn't as involving.

To be honest, I've ridden the GSX R600, 750 and 1000 and they're all
    fun.

Its a funny old life isn't it? The only GSXR riders (bar one) I come
across don't seem to be having that much fun.

    You what?

BTW - I didn't say the VFR was bad - on the contrary - it's very good at
    what it does.
It is however extremely boring in comparison to the GSX-R.

Or at least, what I look and like in a motorcycle is not met by the VFR. I
seriously once considered getting one, but I realise it's just not what I
want in a bike right now. And it's _hideously_ expensive.

And to counter this, every GSX-R owner I know loves them... ;-)

From what I hear, you need to ride a ZX10R then.

LoL, I've sat on/in one, it is indeed just too little (for me).
The ol' Gixxers are still cutting the mustard between the hedges.

Hmm, rev counter you can't read, waffy plastics, screen that doesn't,
frame that gets so hot it burns your knees, uncomfortable seat,
nothing happening below 7k and then all hell breaking loose, yep at
last Kawasaki have realised that what we want is 'extreme'. A worthy
successor to the GSXR - almost.

You say all this like it's a bad thing.
Definitely. I'd have either the ZX10R or the gixer thou myself.

The Kwak would probably be a decent fit for the Racing Snake

Ignoring your personal crusade here, I have to say that the 1150GS
I was ridding across SA and Mozambique was anything but boring.
I found it more fun to ride than an R6 or MV Augusta, both of which
I have ridden enthusiastically. It all depends on your demands doesn't
    it?
