    Hi,
This is my first post to the group, regarding an event I'm taking part
in to raise money for The Children's Trust.

In October I'm riding a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle around Northern
India and The Himalayas as part of The India Motorcycle Challenge
organised by The Trust, and need to raise a minimum of £2850.00.

The charity offers expert help to children with profound disabilities
and complex medical conditions and aims to help them achieve as much
independence and the best quality of life possible. The money raised
will help fund the building of two purpose designed houses for the
pupils of St Margaret's School, many of whom are unable to live at home
because of their complex health needs.

I have an online sponsorship site at
http://www.justgiving.com/andybarnes, and can be contacted through that
    or

    Thanks,

    Andy Barnes

  2. Sell the bike halfway round the tour - that's a large chunk of the cash
    raised.
Find someone else to pay for your holiday.....

I'm curious as to why somebody doing their bit offends you so, if you
don't want to donate, don't donate. That's your prerogative. If you want
to drag somebody down for trying, that's your problem.

  5. Exactly my feeling, except that I couldn't be arsed to post it all. And
it's not as if this is the first such request here either.

You need to google for the fun that was had when another poster on
here thought he could blag a free holiday in Australia courtesy of a
    charity claim.

  7. Well, admittedly she's a bit of a mad bitch, but calling her "it" is
    somewhat ungallant.

See Champs post, and add to that, "I don't fucking know you , so why
    should I bother"

Enjoy your holiday and smile at all the soft fuckers that pay up.

  9. She was brought up just down the road from me - don't know if she still
lives there or is now abroad somewhere. I've read a few of her early
books; interesting stuff, especially the first one, where she just got
up and fucked off and did it with no fuss.

Is DM the school chum of your mum's to which you refer?

  10. The bloke who took my RT exam rode from India to the England in the
1950's on a knackered old Vespa, with a pillion, and 5 quid in his
pocket, just off the off-chance that he'd be able to learn to fly over
here. An amazing character he is. Cooks a bloody good curry an' all.

  11. About 30 miles away from me, but I've been all around the Knockmealdown
mountains which figured large in her early life.
It was at the very start (or even pre-dated) of the India trail - all
the more remarkable for that. I don't think she'd been exposed to
unwashed beardy folk with lovebeads; it was just something she wanted to
do and see and used the only means of transport available to her.
    Typical country girl.
Nor I. I'd like to though, assuming she's still breathing.

You know, I find it hard to believe you can have so few brain cells and
yet still possess enough to type.

Duh. If you read a bit more, and tried to get into what people are
saying, you'd see that this is obviously the latter, which is why it
met with such a scathing response from the regulars here. This was
obvious from the first post to anyone who is able to read even just
very slightly between the lines. If it were not the case, this unknown
poster wouldn't be scouting around the net trying to blackmail money
out of complete strangers, now would he?

Give him a break , he is a teacher.

Actually, it makes me glad my kids are beyond his reach now.

Presumably not a stranger to you if he has got something to blackmail
    you with.

Emotional blackmail, aka begging for "a good cause".
