I've just sent a (work) email to a bunch of people in Paris, where I
    miskeyed a "t" instead of a "g" when I meant to sign-off "regards"

I'm sure they'll see the funny side.

I seem to have just verbally dismissed a chinese colleague's suggestion
of the Japanese Canteen for lunch with my usual "it's all gook food".

    Oops.

good call. Though I'd dismiss a suggestion of Japanese Canteen for
lunch on the grounds that it's over-priced crap.
whatever - they'll get over it.

Derek Fowlds (reading from adventures in China) - "Eventually he came
to the Street of a Thousand Snakes. You know what that was, Basil?"

Basil Brush - "Sounds like a road of cobras".

Yep. The BB Show in the early 70s with Derek Fowlds was, IMHO, the
source of some superb puns, some of which I can (partially) remember
to this day. I dunno who did the scripts.

DF - "Can you typewrite, Basil?"
BB - "I can, but I can't type right. I'm not the right type."

BB- "What do you think, Major Bump?"
Major Jump - "JUMP. Major JUMP"
BB - "Of course you made me jump, shouting like that."

  13. I only learned recently that BB was modelled on Terry-Thomas.
