It's a Dnepr, not a Ural. The big ends have shells, not roller bearings, so
I don't have to worry about all that monograde shit.
The front TLS is crap in reverse...

4.jpg is the machine gun mount, if you want to get Nigel to make
    something similar.

This is getting silly. Does anyone really think I'm going to place a
machine gun in the hands of either Sarah or Laura?

  6. Think how few buggers are likely to SMIDSY you if you have an evilly
grinning passenger in the chair, lovingly caressing the butt of an
    imitation Spandau.

  9. Lovely, innit? Timo reckoned that it was something silly like 20k worth,
    in that condition.

    On Mon, 3 Jan 2005 15:28:05 +0000,
Just looked at the piccies again and noticed that the front German
"number plate", as well as possibly being illegal in some countries
(depending on age), is actually not it's correct registration mark, as
we can see in picture 3 that it's actually French-registered.

Seemed a bit odd, although I suppose it aids its "authenticity".

Forget the fact Soviet military vehicles didn't have stars (only the
aircraft) don't you think it would look a bit hackneyed?

    <aside>
To my mind there is always a faint whiff of suspicion about those who go
in for WWII reenactment. Particularly non UK or US uniforms.

My old mate Kev the Fascist joined an SS re-enactment group, but got
kicked out for being too violent during shows.

He remains the only bloke I know of who was booted from the SS for
    cruelty.

  15. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
Front plate might be the original one. I'd imagine the thing got left
behind when the Wehrmacht pootled off from Paris.

On the topic of "lovingly caressing the butt of", Statto's just been up and
had a reverse of it in the drive (Auntie Carole's not back from her hols
until tomorrow). I suppose I'm going to have to start handing out numbers.
I'm thinking either BS (Back Scuttle) or ABITU (Ass Backwards Into The
Unknown). I managed to spin the wheel, reversing with Jackie in the chair,
and she reported that the vibrations were "interesting", but she didn't seem
interested in a Big O number...
