    <Starts thread - cue 'Mustang Sally'>

After just spending a Pirsig like half hour cleaning and re-ordering
spanners and sockets scattered about after doing the oil and filter
change on the MX5 I set about changing the gearbox sprocket on the lad's
    YZ85.

This was made a much more pleasant task with the aid of a few purchases
    from Aldi recently.

Magnetic tool trays (thanks for the tip in a post a while ago Champ).
A small rechargeable electric screwdriver with a nice pistol grip and
best of all an LED lighting up the fastener you are attacking.
A mini gas powered soldering iron. With the 'blower' attachment fitted
it makes an excellent precision heating device. Got a recalcitrant chain
adjuster bolt lock nut up to plusgas fizzing temperature without a naked
    light.

Not forgetting the 'Prot-tec' safety (heil) trainers. Steel toe capped
with very durable grippy soles for about 15 quid.

    Usual disclaimers apply.

    "The blower, man!"

I didn't realise they had a blower; I could do with one of those for
heat-shrink tubing, the old travel-style hairdryer I've got in the
garage isn't really up to the job.

One of the interchangeable 'bits' (including a hot knife). Only about
10mm diameter, so perhaps not ideal for your requirements. Up close and
personal it blows air hotter than a very hot thing in a very
    concentrated way though.

Aldi is currently doing boxes - metric or Imperialist - of hundreds of
o-rings in assorted sizes for £6.99 a go.

I've never seen more than one of those at a time.

Boxes of them in Aldi or a [insert collective noun of choice] of
    E-clips?

I can hardly see the smallest pingfuckit ones without my bins.

<Wait a minute, this is platy. Delayed whoosh detection alert>

I've not seen may at all, come to think of it, whether lunar or solar.
