  1. Clem,

Carol has prompted me to ask you for details on those ear-bud type
earphones that you were showing her the other day. Where did you get
them from? Where they a Sony product?

    Cheers

  3. You can get the Koss "The Plug" earplugs directly from Koss in the USA;
    http://www.koss.com/

I got a couple of sets a few weeks ago, and complete with spare foam and
postage they turned out cheaper than buying them locally.

I find they stick out more than the Sony's ... painful when wearing a helmet!

    Sound superb though.

Hi Bob! Haven't seen you ..."Online *****" for sometime :)

Tim, is that the type you've got?

Zebee/Tim; are they effective ear-plugs? (I've got a very noisy helmet)

I think they are less effective than decent earplugs. But better than
nowt, and you don't have to blast yourself with the music.

That's what I got, on Zebee's recommendation. Cost about $75 or
thereabouts. Not too bad. However, I wouldn't rely on them to suppress
    wind noise.

Of course, if you're riding a BMW, that won't be an issue.....

You find with BMW riders most of the wind noise is coming OUT of the
    helmet!

I have a lot of wind noise on my 1993 R100GSPD, none on my 1994 K1100LT and
    1986 K100RT, the 1998 R1100S was reasonably quite and the 1969 R60/2 does
not go fast enough for wind to be an issue. The 1990 K1 was quite as was my
    1991 R100RS.

I use a BMW Systems 4 Evo helmet which is reasonably quite but a Arai or
Shoe full-face (not race replica) with as few vent holes as possible will
    always be quieter.

I have purchased Sony Earbuds on Zebee's recommendation and found them to be
    good

I also always wear ear plugs (when not wearing the Sony's).

I assumed that this was what Martin was inferring for BMWs in general.

    Er, yes.

Having said that, one of my regular riding companions, an elderly gent
in his 60s has a new BMW R1150RT. The time between me getting to the
next stop (usually a pub) and him, is about the time it takes for me to
get off the bike, untangle the pretzel-like cramps, and to get the blood
back into the lower extremities. He rocks up, all comfortable, listening
    to his stereo......

Never underestimate the point to point speed of old farts on BMW's.
