....*any* candidate who uses the word "career" any where near the word
    "political" is a ****....

*any* candidate who will admit to obey the party whip when faced with an
important decision, even if it is in direct contradiction with their own
    views, is a ****...

Any member of UKIP is a ****....

I just read what I typed... And before I even see their shite flyers I
know my election choice is **** **** or ****.... I just hope Kilroy
doorsteps me ( I live in the Erewash constituency, see) so I can chin the
    orange ****....

    Why?

Most people don't vote for a candidate because of the candidate's own
views, they make their voting decision based on party affiliation. For
an MP to then vote against their party on important decisions would
surely being going against the basis of their mandate to represent the
    vast majority of their constituents.

Me, I'd happily see political parties abandoned, or PR brought in, but
neither of those is likely to happen in the near future.

You might also want to look up the word 'career' in a dictionary.

Having worked around politicians for over 10 years, I'd be very happy if
this was true. Unfortunately, the majority of them, not all, but definitely
the majority, would happily discard all semblance of personal morality and
ethics, perform a 180 degree turn and vote whichever way they are told by
party whips in order to prolong the arrival of their pay cheques.
At least PR might make MPs vote with their conscience/the views of their
    constituents in mind.
I don't mind the use of "political career" in a retrospective sense, but if
a politician talks about their future political career they are, IMO,
already compromising any promises they may make to the electorate.

How about abolishing general elections and having about 10 by-elections
each month? That way each constituency would get an election every 5
years and the PM would be reminded much quicker when he is being a prat.
